About Diamond
The Diamond operations span Worcestershire and the West Midlands, operating from three depots in Tividale, Redditch and Kidderminster; all these depots are well placed to service Diamond's growing network.
Diamond grew out of the amalgamation of a number of small local bus companies by the Rotala group. In 2006 Rotala acquired Zaks Bus and Coach Services and Birmingham Motor Traction. Then in 2007 North Birmingham Busways was added to the group. In 2008 Ludlows of Halesowen was acquired, together with the West Midlands bus business of the Go Ahead Group. The latter was then known as Go West Midlands so its name was changed to Diamond Bus. In 2013 the Redditch and Kidderminster depots of First Group were acquired by Diamond Bus. More recently in 2022, The bus business parts of Claribels Coaches and Excelbus of Johnsons Coach have been aquired, expanding Diamonds network across the region.
The former 'Black Diamond', 'Red Diamond' and 'Blue Diamond' (previously operated as Central Connect) brands were merged to form one unified trading brand – Diamond, enabling a clearer consistent brand to be developed with a more recognisable network of services and reach across the Midlands area. Progressively all the businesses of the smaller bus companies mentioned above were merged into Diamond Bus, until they all operated under the one Diamond brand, as they do today.
A steady investment in vehicles has introduced a newer, improved, low-floor and fully DDA compliant fleet into the West Midlands & Worcestershire, including hybrid vehicles and the Groups first trial of electric conversion vehicles at the Diamond Tividale Depot.
